Topsetting Winter Multiplier Onions

These perennial heirloom onions, also called “tree onions” or “walking onions” form clusters of very small bulblets or sets on the tips of the leafstalks. An established plant resembles a clump of green scallions. Harvest sweet pungent scallions in spring and “small pickling” onion topsets in summer, leaving a few to reseed for a hardy permanent scallion bed. One bunch contains 10 sets. Bulbs typically ship in the fall. However, some bulbs may be available to ship in the spring–while supplies last.
